Tattoo and body piercing are so trendy in today modern era of fashion. It is seen as a form of self expression. People design their tattoos in the form of quotes, slogans and symbols of any famous aspects. Every person showcases their own unique personality through these tattoos.


Harmful effects of tattoos and piercings:


Tattoos sound fun and exciting but also holds several hazardous side effects. It is important for people to be aware of the risks regarding tattoos as suggested by the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP),

David Levine, co-author and professor at Morehouse School of Medicine talks about the teenagers’ cases. He says, ” most of the teens are just excited about the fact that they can don a tattoo. We try to advise them against the harmful effects. We also ask them to make such decisions with their parents or any adult.”

Levine is concerned of the fact that removing a tattoo is so expensive and the teens are not realizing the situation. He added, “how a piercing on your tongue might result in a chipped tooth.”. He published this in his journal on “Pediatrics”


Steps to consider before going for piercing or tattoo:

  • Tattoo also creates societal difficulties.  People consider themselves as being cool but a person with a tattoo generally gives a bad impression while applying for jobs.
  • Infections adds difficulty after you go for piercing. Make sure that the tattoo parlor or the clinics are hygienic.
  • Government regulations are also important  every tattoo parlors. The clients should be provided with detailed information about the health consequences. They should also be informed about the area to take care of, after getting a tattoo or a piercing.


  •  A person should also make sure that their immunizations are up to date and that they are not taking any medication that compromises their immunity, the report said.
