5 Things Dermatologists recommend you to know

Dermatologists visit can make you feel awkward when you need your doctor to examine the strange mole you have got on your inner thigh. It also gives you a low feeling when someone is calculating every single blemish on your face. But, that is not how your dermatologist thinks. Celebrity dermatologist Dr. Kiran Lohia based in Delhi drops the truth bombs.

Embarrassment is normal

She says embarrassment happens to everyone as doctors treat the most intimate areas and issues. She also says that she hears to the most sensitive of stories, and people often bare their soul about their deepest fears, needs, and wants. After all, beauty is not just about looking good but also about feeling good. She mentions “if a patient is nervous or shy, first of all, I make sure to give them a gown, towel, and a blanket so that they are covered wherever they need to be. Next, I tell them ‘Honey, I have seen it all’, because I really have”.

She says so to assure the patient that their condition is not the first that the doctor has seen anything of that kind and she also mentions that she has seen much worse cases.  She is there to hear and help with zero judgments.

Miracles do not happen in one session

Patients always tend to think that one visit to the doctor will solve all the issues. But, that is not true.  She adds to this by saying “It’s a process of evolution and growth – a good dermatologist can revolutionize how you look and how you feel about yourself if you give them the time and dedication they need.”

Do not run to Home remedies if your treatment is taking time

All patients do not respond the same way to a treatment. She says if a patient is dedicated, doctors will be able to find the solution even though the treatment takes longer compared to other patients. She says home remedies are not the answer and they can be dangerous for hair and skin if not done appropriately.

Stay away from Google

Like many other doctors, Dr. Kiran Lohia also says Google is not a doctor. Google has more chances of having untrue and unverified information. Relying on it might end up in your disservice. She strictly says “Google is designed to give you answers that suit your biases. So if you search for ‘home remedy for acne’, you won’t necessarily get results that talk about why home remedies don’t work. You will only get results that give you typically nonsense home remedies for acne, from a variety of untested sources.” Keep this in mind before checking on Google.

Don’t Shy Away From Oral Medication

Sometimes the skin care might require you to take oral medication. Do not hesitate to take when there is the necessity she says. She adds to it by saying diet and lifestyle also play an important role be it what you eat, how you live, how you feel, and everything has an effect on the skin. She finally quotes “I have always believed in beauty from the inside out, and emphasize that in every consultation.”
